Hello!
Digi Darla has an 'Anything but Square' Challenge this week.
I used one of her angel images that I love!
I folded a 12x6" piece of cardstock and used my circle cutter to cut a 6" circle card. I stamped an old Stampin' Up! star/swirl on the card front and coloured the stars in with a yellow marker. The image was coloured with watercolour crayons and a water pen. Accented the wings with stickles. I oval cut the image, then matted it with the Classic Scalloped Ovals- Small dies by Spellbinders. The greeting is leftover alphabet stickers from a K & Co. album set.

May Arts Prima Ribbonista?
Hi All!
I do LOVE ribbon and am helpless when faced with a wall of textures and colours in ribbon form...
SO I am going to try out for a design team position with May Arts... Wish me luck!
My first card is something I love to do with scrap strips of paper and ribbon... weave. I find weaving these bits to be relaxing and a fun way to show off the patterns and textures. When finished other projects, any ribbon 3" or longer get saved so I can do things like this.
So step 1 is gather the ribbons you want to use.
Step 2 is have Glue Dots or Zots handy to adhere ribbon to card front. (regular adhesive will generally not hold ribbon very well)

Step 3 is cut the lengths of ribbon you will need with a bit of overhang
Step 4 is adhere the first row of ribbon, one on top of the lead ribbon, the next under, then on top, etc.
Step 5 is use double sided tape to secure the entire first row to the card
Step 6 is now weave all the other ribbons, opposite the one previous, leaving overhang of the ribbon
I will use the glue dots under the odd spot in order to keep the ribbons against the card
Once all your ribbon has been woven, use the double sided tape to make sure the edges of the card and the ribbon are in firm contact.
Step 7 is flip the card over and use sharp scissors to trim all the over hang bits of ribbon (keep some bigger scraps for the next card!)
This card I did following a sketch I saw on someone else's blog for this week's challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. It looked fun so away we go! The image is by Gorjuss. I coloured her with Stampin' Up! markers. I used the scraps from the first card to create this and then added the baker's twine + button. Fun eh?
And last but not least is another weaving/scrapbooking project. My godchild Larissa graduated from high school in 2008 and I am finally getting to scrapping her pics! I wove some ribbons for a mat on the 2nd page and on the first page I used paper I created from strips of brown shimmer paper. Told you I like weaving! Ribbon is my go-to decoration for making borders on my pages too.
Hope you enjoy these projects and hope you explore the uses of ribbon in your projects too!

Step 8 is to finish the card! I tied a darker green and white ribbon into a bow and used double sided tape to make sure it stayed put along the left side. The image is called Gemma by Kraftin Kimmie Stamps. She is coloured with my watercolour crayons and a water pen then matted onto green foil. I purposely mis-wove part of the card in order to highlight the words 'forever friends' printed on one ribbon.

Clean & Simple
My Heart Pieces Challenge time!
This week it's all about keeping it clean and simple.
I started with 'Noyontara in the Fall' and tried colouring her in with different papers and mediums.
First up is a 6x6" card. After printing the image onto a coated cardstock, I cut out a square around the image then fussy cut to the next square edge, helping to get the image to pop. I used Stampin' Up! markers to colour in the image and accent the greeting. The greeting is by Hero Arts. I layered the coloured image onto old Stampin' Up! paper and then onto older pumpkin printed paper! :) Punched each corner with an All Night Media corner punch.
The next card is 6.5x5". This cardstock was coated and the watercolour didn't blend as well, but the effect is kinda cool! I fussy cut the image then placed it on top of a 6x6" folded duo orange panel accented with a self adhesive paper border. The title is a sticker from my stash.
And this third card is 5x7". Used more stickers from my stash to decorate the border. I cut out the first mat with the largest Spellbinders Labels 28. I adhered it to a rust coloured shimmer paper and hand cut a larger mat. This was also printed and coloured with coated cardstock and my Stampin' Up! markers. I also coloured extra pumpkins and leaves. Once I fussy cut the image, I placed it centre of the mats, then pop dotted the extra pumpkin and leaves.

Digital + Traditional
Hello All!
I made my hubby's B-Day card this year as a combination card. I had this James Bond idea, but no stamps to follow through with it. So I pulled out my Creative Memories Digital Studio out and made the first layer of this card with elements from that. I printed it out, trimmed it and then placed it on a 4x8" black card front. Added some washi tape along the bottom, and that's it! The photo is from our wedding and is the only one I have of him by himself in a tux type outfit. Gotta remedy that...

Puzzled?
Hello!
I wanted to show you some cards I did for a make and take at our stamping club here in Edmonton. We call ourselves PMS. (Pretty Mean Stampers - quit laughing!) We have a lot of fun and we share ideas for making cards.
This is not a new technique by any means but I like the look of puzzle pieces and try to incorporate them in my cards. After all, they are a flat-ish embellishment and therefore easy to put through the mail system. Basically you stamp an image, then stamp it again on a puzzle piece that has been primed with a layer of gesso paint. You can then colour the background image and then the puzzle piece to match for texture, or contrasting. You can also not colour the back ground and colour only the puzzle piece for a spotlight type of technique.
This first card is a stamp from Stampers Obsession, I think, and coloured with permanent markers. The back ground is scraps of glitter paper. Wrapped yarn around the left side and held it in place with a flower and brad.
This stamp is a background stamp by Stampin' Up! I stamped it first in green on the background, then on the puzzle piece after I coloured the stamp with pigment ink then heat set. Then I matched the pattern.
This key background stamp was stamped in brown then again with muticoloured ink.
This is using the same stamp as the first card, only I left the background stamp uncoloured this time and used permanent markers to colour the puzzle piece. I think this one is my favourite :)
Have some fun today!

3D Digi Darla
Hello again!!!
I finally got a chance to play this week and complete Digi Darla's weekly challenge. This week she wanted us to create a 3D project. I decided to use one of her images called 'Have a Ball'. Isn't she adorable?
I first printed two of the same size image and coloured in one completely, then cut it out. I coloured the head and front paws of the second image and cut out just these parts. The full image was adhered securely to the printed flower paper and I pierced some small holes at either end of the yarn ball sections. Threaded up my needle with this cotton yarn/thread and stitched in some of the sections to give the yarn some dimension. I pop dotted the partial image and placed it over this to give the kitty a 3D look too. The tag is cut out using my Cuttlebug and the Spellbinders Fancy Tags. The sentiment is from Digital Princess Design.
I love making a regular stamp image into 3D when I can!

Getting Sentimental
Hello there everybody!
This week at My Heart Pieces Priyanka challenged us to use a sentiment. I had been feeling sentimental about this image as it reminded me of my dad. So 'Summer Fun' was selected. (of course it helps that I ADORE giraffes!)
This stamp was purchased a while ago and has not been used up to now! This sentiment is what I try to live by. Work is important, but playing each day at something you love is vital! This image was coloured with watercolour crayons and a water brush, then cut out with Spellbinders Labels 28. I used distress ink to colour the edges and then glossy accents to make the bottle and balloon pop. I placed a piece of giraffe printed paper on the 5.5x6" kraft card base, then ran two printed ribbons down the left. I then adhered my cut out image.
This image was also coloured with watercolour crayons and a waterbrush then accented with glossy accents. I cut out a mask of the image to cover my image while I added the green grass and blue sky. I also trimmed around the balloon a bit to make it pop out from behind the mat. The card is a 5.5 x 6.6" window card from Magenta. Versamark and a number collage stamp from Judikins tamped around the mat to give it dimension. I used Spellbinders Fancy Tags Dies to cut out thin cork for the greeting. Greeting is by Magenta too. Some scrap mesh paper and cork stickers finish it all off!
So dig out some of those sentiment stamps and get 'sentimental'!
Hugs!
