Sweet Art

In August I had my sister come over for a visit with a little friend of hers that she was babysitting for the day.  I was working on a card for a challenge that never got entered in time, but I thought I'd show it now!  This little girl wanted to create a card too so I gave her an image and pencil crayons, then showed her how to build a card once the image was coloured in.  She LOVED my Cuttlebug! :)
We both used the same image 'Sweet Straberries' from Digi Darla.  First one of mine was coloured with markers then simply trimmed and matted onto Magnolia designer paper.  Letters and flowers are from my alphabet stash.
For my second card, I used watercolour crayons then my cuttlebug to cut it out.  Matted onto the same designer paper and used a new tool to cut slots and weave ribbon through the side to mimic leaves.  Letters and flowers are from my stash.
And this was the 8 year old artist's version.    Pencil crayons as I mentioned, then cuttlebug and a Spelbinder frame die cut and some more flowers from my stash.  She made this card for her mom... just because.

Digi Darla's Circle and Scallops Challenge

Well I've fnally gotten a chance to play some more and and been aching to play with this little girl!  So here is my submission for Digi Darla's current challenge.  I coloured her using my Stampin' Up! Markers.  I also used my Creative Memory metallic pens to accent the hat and buckets.  Used my circle cutter, my Spellbinder Scalloped Circles - small and large and my Cuttlebug swirl embossing folder.  The greeting is Stampin' Up and the fireman girl and inside greeting are of course Digi Darla!

Use Black

Hello everyone!

This week's challenge at My Heart Pieces is 'Use Black'.  I wanted to use an image for boys this time around, and so I used 'Paint Boy'.  I had fun with him and made a couple extra (as usual!).  I coloured all three of them with my watercolour crayons and used my black Sakura Glaze pen to give the black paint an extra shine.

I like shimmer and glossy texture and used both on this card, along with my Spellbinders Labels 8.  Some Magenta mesh paper as a background and an Arrow Tab by Creative Imaginations.

This next one I used an old technique called 'spot light'.  Basically you pick an area to colour in and leave the rest uncoloured.  I used Spellbinders 11 to cut out the coloured area.  I popped it up a bit as well to make it stand out more.  Just used a regular corner rounder for this.  I added a scrap ribbon I found and of course a paint chip!

Next up is a 5x5 card made with a piece of Autumn Leaves Pretty Poppy Paper.  I am a paper horder and have tried to find uses for the tons of paper I have!  I used my Spelbinder Octagon Small and large shapes for this one.

Hero Arts Submission

Yikes!  I almost forgot to enter this even though it's been done for weeks!
Hero Arts has a challenge on to use a particular colour palette and I was inspired to make a non-halloween card with the colours.

Star Gazing

Well all of us are guilty of this once in a while and I am no exception...
Two weekends ago I went to the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival in Sherwood Park.  Too much fun and WAY too much temptation!  I took a class with Christy Riopel and did quite a bit of shopping.

I also got to meet and chat with Emma Lou, daughter of the wonderful artist behind Heartfelt Creations.  So I took advantage and asked for pictures with both these wonderful ladies.

So who are the famous people you've gotten to meet?
Hugs!

Prize Made and Prize Received!

So this summer I created a gift basket of 20 handmade cards with matching envelopes in a mini suitcase type box to hold them.  I created these cards specifically for The Edmonton Shetland Sheepdog Fanciers Club, of which I am a member.  The have a big summer picnic and Christmas party each year which Jim, Kara and I love to go to.  Lots of dogs and lots of cuddles!  So this basket was made up as part of the silent auction that is done at each event.

And here's the finished basket:

Also in July I was informed that my name had been drawn to receive a prize box from EKSuccess Canary School.  See, I am a certified Scrapbook Instructor with their program and there had been a draw of the current instructors this summer to receive new product.  These are the goodies I got!  Thanks guys!

My Heart Pieces Anything Goes!

It's our byweekly challenge time at My Heart Pieces!  This time it's Anythng Goes...
chose 'Friends Forever' for this challenge and used it to make some cards with particular friends in mind...  The first card I gave to my girlfriend Judith for her birthday in July.  (I matched the hair colours as close as possible)

Then of course I had to play with my Spellbinders and papers to create different looks...  I reuse my strips of paper and weave them into a custom sheet that I then use.  I love the crocheted flower!

Sunflowers talk to me.  Probably because of their bold colours...

And my last card...

Viva Las VegaStamps! DT Tryout

So I've admired Viva Las Vegas Stamps for a long time and I'd LOVE to be on their design team, so here is my tryout!  FYI: Did you know one of the owners is a Canadian?  Too Cool!

My first card is a card I did as a trial for my mom's Christmas Cards last year.  I used Magenta stamps and Barn Door Distress Ink.  It was the first time I played with these inks and I've fallen in love with the texture of them.

My second tryout card is using some Chocolate Stamps and Distress Inks.  I honestly do not know the maker of the vintage central image.  The chocolate word sayings are all Viva Las Vegas Stamps.  Used Stampin' Up paper and punches for the central panels, which open up like doors to reveal...

Another chocolate saying!  Again, I do not know the identity of the Hershey Kiss stamp... Sorry!

And the third card is mostly a Viva Las Vegas card :)  I sent an email a couple years ago requesting a burned knight on a horse and a year later they produced one!  I was STOKED!  This is one of the cards I've created with it and other VLV stamps.  This is a tri fold card enhanced with mesh paper and a printed vinyl sheet cut to fit the front and back of the card.  The swirls are by Magenta.

The inside stamp is also VLV and says 'May your dreams come true and your dragons be few'.

So here's hoping I have what the design team at Viva Las Vegas Stamps is looking for!

Wedding Wishes

Today is the day my oldest niece gets married.  When Jim and I were first engaged 18.5 years ago, she was the first to notice a new piece of jewelry on my hand.  Also a red head, she has always had a special place in my heart.  Here is the card I created for her and her new husband.  Lots of love Kathleen and Mike!

St. Patrick's Day and International Quilting Day!

Woohoo! Time for some green Quilts! LOL! Not often that these two days land on the same weekend. I finally finished one of my UFOs (unfinis...
