2 weeks already and another My Heart Pieces Challenge! This time the challenge was Layers. I do use some, but not as many as I used on this card! I must admit I like the look and have to use more layers more often... I used Spellbinders and the image Bengali Bride for this challenge. I did do some research on the colours used at weddings and bright is the way to go! I also used some script from a book at the recycle center. I sincerely hope the script does not say anything offensive. If it does, please let me know and I will remove and redo the card. Hugs !

My Favourite Colour
It is time for our biweekly challenge with 'My Heart Pieces'. This time it is the use of your favourite colours. Mine are Blue and Green and so TEAL is also perfect! I used the image 'Magical Eyes' because it reminded me of me when I was a teen and young adult. The first card I created was using a new Spellbinders die, some different teal papers from my stash and ribbon from my stash. I coloured the image with my SU! markers.
This one is done in blues. Same markers, flowers, rope and buttons from my stash. Another Spellbinders die set. the Inspire I believe is Making Memories.

And of course, one more in greens. Another set of Spellbinders and more paper from my stash. The flower paper clip is from Michaels. Ribbon from Michaels and Magenta.
Oh! A younger me? Here's a family pic from 1995. I'm on the far right behind my dad.
Hugs! Cindy :)
3D Altered Canvas
In May I took a class at my girlfriend's home 'Kinsa's Retreat'. We each created an altered canvas to display or give away. I immediately had an idea to create one for my cousin in Ontario. She expressed an interest in the idea, so I created one just for her. Then my adrenalin got going and I created 2 for my wall to inspire me.
The piece on the left was my gift to my cousin Annette. The piece on the right was mine.... but it needed a twin....
So here was my foray into 3D Altered Canvas...

Life Happens!
Well, I hinted to this event last month, but it has affected me more than I thought it would.
Just before leaving for a month long holiday we had two weeks of heavy rain. This lead to a clean water flood in our basement... where my and my husband's work areas are. We are currently finishing up the clean up and clear out of the basement. I do not see myself getting back to creating for another few weeks though. As a result, I will be posting past completed projects I have already photographed. (beacause I cannot find them right now) Here are some pics of the damage just because, as the saying goes, they are worth a thousand words...
These are before and afters. My husband spent his two weeks holidays ripping out carpet, scraping glue off the cement and painting with a sealant paint. Not mention moving all ourjunk stuff as needed to do the work. I love my husband!
Just half of the carpet ripped out...
Office area...
This is the last room to be worked on: our work areas.
I know others have had WAY more loss and I do not wish to complain. I post this to appologise to all where I have or will not be able to complete swaps. Hugs to all!

Using Designer Paper
Hello everyone!
So sorry for the late post! I'm on holiday in Ontario right now and we just got back from Quebec for 10 days. Lots of family and lots of driving! Midway through the 10 days, my computer cord died. I have a lovely laptop full of information and no way to charge it up! Ah well! I'll be home in a few days... Meanwhile here is my next challenge for My Heart Pieces byweekly challenges:
As soon as the challenge was named I knew which image I wanted to use! Strawberry house was so cute! I used Stampin Up! markers to colour the image, then distressed the edges before matting on red paper. The strawberry paper is by Magnolia, then matted on red again, then placed on a white 5x61/2" card front. Added a scrap green gingham ribbon, unknown flower and button and 'magical' I believe is Making Memories.
Then of course you know by now, I cannot help but make more cards.... so here is one more!
Hugs! Cindy :)

Circle or Square (or both!)
So it's time for another challenge at My Heart Pieces... Use a circle or a square in your card design. I like to try to combine either/ors so mine has both. A circle image on a square mat. I used the image 'Wine Barrel' - perfect for masculine cards! Then made another one with an oval image. Enjoy and play along!

Where Bloggers Create
This is the 4th year in a row that Karen has assembled a list of creative bloggers that wish to show off their creative spaces. I decided that our little space was woth sharing, so here it is!
When we bought our home we were looking for a large space that my husband and I could share. He builds and flies radio controlled ariplanes and I scrapbook, make cards and various papercrafts. In this instance we found a basement space that fit the bill. So come on down!
When we bought our home we were looking for a large space that my husband and I could share. He builds and flies radio controlled ariplanes and I scrapbook, make cards and various papercrafts. In this instance we found a basement space that fit the bill. So come on down!
At the bottem of the stairs, turn right... Welcome! My husband's space is directly ahead as you enter the room and my area is to the right. The first thing I did when we moved in was to purchase Ikea shelving and MANY Michaels 12x12 plastic storage boxes to store my stash.
We placed a TV at the halfway point along the facing wall so we could watch while working away. This is also where our CD stereo and printer are stored. There was a built in niche that I took advantage of to place some drawer caddies in the bottem, with my Cuttlebug and box of embossing/cutting folders on top. Also stored here are my magnetic folders with the Spellbinders, a box of Sookwang tape and glittering supplies, books, and at the top, rolls of paper and card blanks of different sizes.
Years ago I found that storing 12x12 paper was a pain, and heard that some lateral file cabinets allowed for a 12 inch clearance. I went into Staples and measured each one until I found one and purchased it! Only the top drawer clears 12" but that's ok! In the bottem I store my 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock.
Under my work table I placed two drawer type units that hold those same 12x12 stoage boxes from Michaels. I keep my projects in process in these. And the right hand picture is the far wall unit. All connected together.
I used a labeller to label the storage boxes as to what is inside. and for smaller groupings of items, I place them in a plastic 12x12 envelope. I tend to group my stash by colour primarily. My favourite and large collection of themed items go in separate bins. (Christmas, Halloween, Disney, Snow, Oriental, Vintage, in my case)
So, left going down then over, a current project, some coloured items, (Pink, Purple, Blue, Beige, Red, White) Next column, paints, chalk, pencil crayons, themed envelopes, tools and ephemera not able to be sorted. Two rows od colured and themed items. Last row, albums and pages. And along the top are assorted tools, storage and items...light desk, spray box, finished cards, unsorted stuff and empty storage cases.
And along the facing wall I keep my stamp binders, ink pads and reinkers, magazines and books, finished projects, specialty paper and more stuff. To the right is the TV stand and our CD collection and the door you just came in! This is also a pretty good shot of the plane my husband is currently making air worthy.
Bored yet? Almost done!
This is my typical work area. What I'm working on is at the top, my most used tools is in the desk top spinner (also from Michaels), the box contains recycling, more tools...
And of course CHOCOLATE! I keep my bowl of smarties ready for munching as I can quickly pop one in my mouth while working and not get my hands or work dirty. Another Blogger " Sparkle Tart by Kate Palmer" gave me the idea of cutting all my non standard 'scraps' into 8x8 and 6x6 inch squares, ready for use in future projects. I LOVE this system! I go for these bits before I touch my full sheets and my stash gets used!
So that's my space. At least how it was...
I took these pictures preparing for this post last week. Good thing too! We had a big storm come through and we ended up with an inch of water pretty much all over the basement. Thank goodness it was not a sewer back up or more water! But it does mean that some shelves will have to go and some of my supplies not in plastic bins will have to be tossed. The majority of it will be fine, eventually, but it means I will not be creating for a while. Next year will see a new and improved area! (Maybe elsewhere in the house! ) Enjoy the other sites and inspiration! The button at the top right hand side of the page will bring you to the main party page! Hugs!
